plans for friday:

as soon as i get off of work, jeff and i are going to the midnight premier of that new indiana jones movie. i've got to admit, i'm not a big indiana jones buff in the least - but he is - so we are going. i've never actually given indiana jones a shot, so this will be his shot. i am excited to be in downtown seattle so late at night though because that's when it is the most beautiful. the premier is also being held at the cinerama and that is the same place we went to go see cloverfield - which was actually a really good movie that i enjoyed quite a lot. getting to spent a good portion of the night in downtown seattle definitely sounds like a perfect night to me.

plans for saturday:

thankfully, lydia cancelled this saturday's prose class so that we could get out and enjoy our three-day weekend. i'm very grateful for that. when i was talking to jeff, i happened to bring up that i hadn't been to vashon island in a really long time and that it was really gorgeous there. and we had talked about going bike riding for some time now, so we figured now was as good of a time as any! the plan for saturday is to take the ferry over to vashon island and to rent bikes from the vashon island bike shop! and then, i hope to be able to bike around the island; its only a few miles. i hope mother nature will be kind and give us good weather so our day is fun and enjoyable rather than wet and cold.

plans for sunday:

sunday is as sunday always was: clean up, laundry, take care of things, etc. it will hopefully be a nice day and it will hopefully be a calm and peaceful day. jeff is working and hopefully after biking around vashon, we won't be too sore because at 7 o'clock we have a schoolyard heroes to go to at el corazon! he isn't a big fan, but i am quite a devotee, so i am making a point of it to go. i am less than thrilled by all of the really crummy opening bands but thankfully they are headlining so that means their show will be the longest and the most spectacular. i am excited to see them, and also very glad that the next day is not a school day. i hate going to school with ringing ears and tired legs.

plans for monday:

monday is wind down day and study for test day. luckily, my last test of the quarter is this tuesday for philosophy and we're being tested on euthanasia. thankfully, he isn't making this one an in-class essay, instead it is a take-home and we only have to define the terms in class (which are usually really easy. i tend to miss points on the essay). i will still, of course, have final projects, but they aren't exams.

• ethics: final project on sexuality and self-image as it pertains to younger females.
  
• soc: analyzing socioeconomic status as it relates to learning and parental teaching styles. this study will be conducted in the form of interviews with 10 year olds and their legal guardians.
  
• prose: second hybrid that uses two or more different types of media.

i am taking a saturday class this quarter. most people would think that was a pain in the ass, however. i absolutely love that class. lidia yuknavitch, the professor, is the best teacher i've encountered at uwb. which is actually sad, considering she only teaches part-time-ish (one class a quarter, as far as i am aware). this particular class is prose. but we aren't being asked to read the same old "classic" stuff and analyze it and write an essay. oh dear g-d no. we read things like the jiri chronicles (which utilizes the systems theory, analyzes gender and patriarchy and is written by a devilish, gorgeous woman named debra di blasi). we read beauty is convulsive - a book about frida kahlo - and i book-gasmed. i love frida. i love her work. and the way this was written reminded me so much of winterson. and if i could steal any writer's abilities, it would be hers (though i could just, you know, steal her).

for class: we read a book a week. we blog about it on wordpress (thank you for ditching blackboard on this one. i fucking hate blackboard). and we do a writing assignment. and i like it because it isn't asking you to write about a specific childhood experience that really impacted your life. or to close your eyes and picture a "place that evokes _______ emotion." the assignments tie into the books, and the books are out there, so of course, the assignments are as well...

we ended up being invited to apply to the writer's edge workshop, the thing i talked to lance about, and i actually would like to go. i miss creative retreats and it won't be your average writer's workshop, i don't think. it's gonna cost a bit, but if i can find a worthy piece for submission, i think i am on board for that.

(also, i think my calendar is booked until about april 2009).

today was extra special because we turned in two assignments, since it snowed last weekend and class was cancelled. and i loved both pieces. i let jeff read the one that was to be "inspired by a painting by an artist we feel strongly about." i did mine on bond of union - a piece by escher. (i have a hard time letting people read anything that i write, that i really care about. it just isn't something i do). he ended up really loving it. and that little thing cheered me up in a way he will never understand. school:
i'm glad. finals week is approaching, and rather quickly, but i'm a lot less worried than i imagined i would be. somehow, it's all just coming together (not for lack of effort, mind you). jeff and i were talking about graduation last night and it's a bit scary how fast time passes by. i started going to the uw fall quarter of 2007 and i could be done by the end of this year with a bachelor's degree in hand. and yet another graduation ceremony to attend - though i always look forward to those. (i wonder if i'm not rushing it a bit because most people my age are college freshmen or possibly sophomores.)

work:
work is as work always was - absolutely amazing. i am one of the very lucky folks whose first job is a pleasant experience.

home:
we're still trying to move all of our stuff into the new house but it definitely feels like home. it never felt that way at our other place. always felt like a place we lived and stayed, never a home to me. i feel like i don't want to leave the house unless i really have to because i enjoy being there. you don't understand just how amazing that feeling is.

personal:
and finally. a person who once had a large role in my life is making his way back into it. and that makes me infinitely happy.
